We cover fundamental topics such as operating systems, networking, system administration, and basic cybersecurity principles, providing students with the knowledge and confidence to progress through the course.

We believe that practical, hands-on experience is crucial for transforming students into GovTech professionals. Our program incorporates real-world projects, lab exercises, and simulations to help students apply their newfound skills in realistic scenarios. This experiential learning approach not only solidifies their understanding of the subject matter but also allows them to develop problem-solving abilities and critical thinking skills essential for a successful career in GovTech.

Skill Based and Certification-Focused Training
To ensure our students are competitive in the job market, we place a strong emphasis on preparing them for industry-recognized certifications like CompTIA Security+ and Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA). Our training modules are specifically designed to align with certification objectives, and we provide additional resources, practice exams, and personalized guidance to help students successfully pass these certification exams.

Holistic Career Support and Mentorship
Our program goes beyond technical training by offering comprehensive career support, including resume creation, interview preparation, and mock interviews. We also pair students with experienced GovTech professionals who provide mentorship and guidance throughout the program. This personalized support, combined with exclusive networking opportunities, ensures that our students are well-equipped to navigate the GovTech job market and secure positions that align with their career goals.

Before starting the GovTech Academy: GovTech Accelerator program, Symoné a highly successful government technology expert with over 15 years of experience in the tech industry specializing in software, radar systems engineering, and information assurance/cybersecurity, I am passionate about helping individuals achieve their goals and unlock their full potential in tech.
With a degree in Computer Science and a successful track record in international government contracting, I have gained valuable GovTech knowledge and expertise that I want to share with you. That's why I created the SLS Tech Academy, a program designed to provide specialized training for individuals looking to transition from low paying jobs careers, underpaid tech roles or military veterans looking to transition into high-paying GovTech careers.

Symoné has 15 years of GovTech professional experience with a BS degree in Computer Science. Worked as an overseas government contractor specializing in Information Assurance and Radar Systems Engineer work.
Rachel Reed
Program Coordinator
Rachel possesses over seven years of experience in people management, project management and administrative support. She has an amazing track record of excellent customer service and client relations. She’s also developed training programs from scratch in roles past.
Briana mcFadden
Head of Education
Briana McFadden is a driven, hard-charger in the Information Technology and Cyber Security field with years of experience as a government civilian and now a government contractor. She is also an adjunct faculty member within the San Antonio College Computer Information Systems department and is a member of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Incorporated. Briana McFadden takes huge pride in being a mother to her amazing daughter. She enjoys spending time with her family, traveling to new places, helping others and learning more about her craft.

Mr. Stevens is a highly experienced professional with more than 18 years of expertise in risk governance and cybersecurity. He holds notable certifications, including Certified Ethical Hacker, Certified EC Council Instructor, and Certified Learning Tree International Instructor. His educational background includes studies in Information Systems Management at UMGC.
